Damien has organised two jumping lessons with professional show jumper Tracey Gallagher at her arena in Termon, taking place on Fridays 15 and 22 August. It’s a great opportunity to get tuition from a rider who’s out there on the competitive circuit on a regular basis.

A huge number of our members are making their way to Dublin for the Horse Show at the RDS — one of the truly great events on the equestrian calendar annually. For anybody who isn’t Dublin bound and is looking for entertainment, Libby will lead a ride-out in the Rathmullan area this Friday evening. Exact departure point and route will be determined based on the number of riders and their level of ambition.

It’s always a treat to get out on a cross country course and tomorrow’s opportunity to try out Lenamore’s new fences shouldn’t be missed. The go-as-you-please evening kicks off at 7pm and is suitable for riders of all grades — even those who don’t fancy jumping but just enjoy a spin around the fields.

As Marina says, let the fun begin…
Time to start plotting the next few months of calendar activity! There’ll be a club meeting at 8pm this Friday, 11 July, at Tir na nOg. Special topics of interest include the regional training day on 27 July. Everybody welcome.
This Friday evening Jenny offers members an opportunity to discover her backyard in the area around Creeslough, Ards Forest and Muckish. Paddy, Rachel and Libby enjoyed a fabulous route through the area with her in mid-winter, some time ago. The scenery and natural environment are stunning and will be a joy at the peak of midsummer.

Thanks to Anne Baum who spotted us riding at Carrickfinn and made sure her photos made their way to the club. It was a brilliant weekend and it’s great to have tangible reminders. The whale pictures will appear at some stage…
Just in case any of our non-jumping members were writing off Friday evening as a no-go area, rest assured that Marina and Enda are designing the activities to suit just about everybody. For those who do want to jump, there’ll be a go-as-you-please session to start, with jumping and open country riding through five big generous fields. Non-jumpers can just enjoy the scope of the fields.
Following that, when the excess gas has been released from the horses, we’ll enjoy a games session with various obstacles and puzzles to be undertaken by mixed teams, designed to accommodate the full range of non-jumping or novice riders as well as fat and unfit horses.
We’re expecting company from the Gaeltachts and Inishowen so it should be a great evening at the height of midsummer with a wonderful weather forecast. Refreshments after our exertions will crown a lovely expedition.
