There are two legs of the North West Spring League under our belts (or our girths) and Letterkenny had a great start, particularly at the second leg of the league at Necarne. That event saw four of our members taking part and bagging five red rosettes between them. Jennie bagged the win in the RC70 class after a text-book round on Ballybay Girl and we can safely say this pair are going to be a lynch-pin of our 70/80cm team for the national championship. Another very promising member of our team will be Libby Mooney on Invincible Truth, who took the second spot in the 70 Open class before going on to jump her first 80cm class with the plucky grey. Just to prove that the little Thoroughbred isn’t a one trick pony, the duo went on to win the highly competitive RCP2 dressage class. Francis McNicholl took a competitive RC90 class aboard Kerrykeel Darcey, having mastered the art of the jump-off, and continued his excellent record in the RCN dressage with yet another win. Rachel Carton on the inimitable Aughavannon Merlin, made a navigational error in the RC100 class with resulting elimination, but made use of the available 100 Open class to redeem themselves with an uncontested win and respectable jump-off time.

This coming Sunday, the 8th of March, sees us all head to Greenacres once again to take part in the third leg of the league, which will see the league table hot up significantly. The usual range of classes will be running, and tactics will start to kick in as people spot opportunities to gain points in graded classes above their norm, or in Open classes. Entries for the dressage will close at 10pm on Thursday but jumping entries will be taken on the day if necessary. Get your entries in on
