There have been several reports recently about the increase in club memberships across a wide number of disciplines. It seems to be one positive effect of the downturn, which is really saying something. Certainly Letterkenny Riding Club’s membership continues to thrive and this week we welcome two more primary level riders to the ranks. Hazel Mahony livesContinue reading “Two new members, one new Secretary’s assistant”

Martina off to Mullingar
This year our club has a rare entry at the AIRC National Show Jumping Championships in Mullingar this Sunday, 17 July. Martina and Smuggler will fly the Letterkenny flag in the Primary events as the duo clock up another colossal number of diesel miles in their 2011 season. Full information about the event is onContinue reading “Martina off to Mullingar”
New member for the club
We’re happy to welcome another new member to the club. Karen Logue is from Ballybofey and will ride at primary level. Everybody already knows her sister, Laura McGowan, who has been a member since the beginning of the year. The two of them will ride Laura’s lovely cob, Jack.
Dalysgrove visitors survive to tell the tale
John Miland, Chairman of Dalysgrove Riding Club, has posted a lovely report on the club’s visit to Ramelton for our Derby & Dressage weekend. A very big thanks to all of them for making the mammoth effort of coming from East Galway to Donegal. Hopefully they’ll all be back in 12 months’ time. The DalysgroveContinue reading “Dalysgrove visitors survive to tell the tale”
Any sea horses for SeaFest?
Unless you have plans to travel to the Equifestival in Cavan, the first weekend in July looks remarkably free of competitive equestrian activity. For anybody who feels like trying something completely different, Rathmullan’s new celebration of the coastal environment, SeaFest, should provide plenty of options. Stable management skills tested at Letterkenny General Hospital
Marina has had to bow out of this evening’s show jumping challenge at Ecclesville. She’s holding the fort at home while Enda undergoes some essential maintenance and testing at Letterkenny General Hospital. If the club were lucky enough to own a webcam, we would have broadcast a live demonstration yesterday on the value of equestrianContinue reading “Stable management skills tested at Letterkenny General Hospital”
Another great weekend result
This time it’s Francis who hits the headlines: His key has been found at Claremorris Equestrian Centre! It’s making its way by bank transfer to Cormac and the joyful reunion will probably take place at the weekend. (Here’s hoping there weren’t two almost identical keys lost at Hanleys!) Pictured below: An uncharacteristically dejected Francis mentallyContinue reading “Another great weekend result”

Relaxed and healthy partners spotted in Letterkenny
It’s good to see that Paddy has his priorities right. Scarcely 48 hours back in the country, on Saturday he and Lizzie were spotted out shoe shopping for the new season at the Mountain Top. The pair of them are a great advertisement for taking a 3-month winter break. Seamus has kept Lizzie in primeContinue reading “Relaxed and healthy partners spotted in Letterkenny”
Another new member for our thriving club
Mary Finneran, one of the founders of the club, has developed yet another new member for us. Christopher Pyper, whom many of you will have met at last night’s meeting, is our newest recruit. From Moorefield, Ramelton, Christopher took up riding just a year or so ago at Glenleary Stables and puts in as muchContinue reading “Another new member for our thriving club”
