Melinda Morgan has posted the full results from Sunday’s show on the Benbulben website. It was a great day for Donegal and it seems reasonable to conclude that the benefits of the North West League are considerable! Congratulations to everybody, particularly Francis, Anne and our neighbours in Tirconaill and the Gaeltacht.

Benbulben Spring Show Schedule, Sunday 3 April
The timing of Benbulben’s Spring Show this year should suit everybody who has been competing at the North West League. The show takes place on Sunday 3 April, exactly a week after our league final so horses and riders should be finely tuned. The event always has a large attendance on account of its location bangContinue reading “Benbulben Spring Show Schedule, Sunday 3 April”
Dressage at Deanes rescheduled for 12 December *Cancelled*
Cancelled! Clear round jumping on for anybody who wants to attend. With good dressage competitions so thin on the ground, it’s nice to see that Deanes haven’t cancelled the show they recently lost to the weather on 28 November. Instead they’ve rescheduled it for Sunday 12 December. Check out the full details on the Deanes ECContinue reading “Dressage at Deanes rescheduled for 12 December *Cancelled*”

Hunter trial success for Donegal
Castle Leslie Estate’s first hunter trials on Saturday proved lucrative for the Donegal riders who made the journey. Armstrong confirmed that he’s still at the top of his game by carrying off yet another red ribbon, this time with Libby in the saddle. Unlike riding club hunter trials which are judged under optimum time, thisContinue reading “Hunter trial success for Donegal”
Diverse destinations
Club members are heading in divergent directions this weekend as expertise and interest in different disciplines dictates the itinerary. Tanya, Liz and Libby (and Anne and Keary, if they can squeeze it in before a wedding!) are heading to Castle Leslie for the hunter trials on Saturday. On Sunday, Orla plans to fly the club flagContinue reading “Diverse destinations”
Cyril and Ava take dressage honours
Our three weeks of flatwork instruction were put to the test on Friday evening when about half of Jackie’s pupils turned out to ride a formal test. For a couple — Suzanne and Maura — it was their first ever dressage test and they overcame the psychological hurdle with smiles on their faces. Their’s wereContinue reading “Cyril and Ava take dressage honours”
Change of dressage judge for next week
Mary Devine has had to change her plans and won’t after all be judging our dressage tests next week. Jackie will do the honours instead so consider bringing her some treats for the lesson tomorrow evening. Once again Martina has four lessons scheduled, beginning at 6pm.
Annual ‘End of Summer Show’ at Deanes, Sunday 22 August
The AIRC’s big event this weekend is the National Dressage Championships but, since it takes place in Tipperary, it’s hardly surprising that none of our members are competing. A more local alternative is Deane’s End of Summer Show in Bruckless where you can try your hand and hooves at dressage, show jumping and cross country.Continue reading “Annual ‘End of Summer Show’ at Deanes, Sunday 22 August”
Upcoming Friday activity
It’s a while since we’ve had any instruction on Fridays but there’s plenty coming up over the next month. Francis isn’t able to run his safe towing talk/demo this Friday so instead we’ll have a jumping lesson at Glenleary to keep everybody out of trouble. The emphasis of the class will be on riding aContinue reading “Upcoming Friday activity”
