We’ve known for a while now that our neighbours in the Tirconaill Riding Club plan to hold a show again this summer after a break of several years. The event takes place on Sunday 31 July at Deanes Equestrian Centre in Bruckless and features show jumping and dressage. With Charles Maudlin designing the course and Jacqueline in the judge’s box, it promises to be a gold standard western region event.
A month later, on Sunday 28 August, the Gaeltachts are planning an inter-club ride-out through the fabled Falcarragh countryside. Riders will be split into two groups which can probably be described in several different terms, from slow to fast or sane to insane. The route will cover the wonderful beaches in the area and will probably take in the cross country jumps at the Ballyconnell Estate as well as Manus’s land near Ballyness Bay. Hunting afficionados will be able to picture the scene but it will be an even better setting in summer(?) weather. It promises to be a fantastic experience for anybody who loves riding in Donegal.
