Some members may already be familiar with the Equestrian Store in Northern Ireland. There’s a chance to capitalise on some of their great bargains at their 2-day sale at the Mount Errigal in Letterkenny on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March.
Check out full details on The Equestrian Store Sale flyer.
Ruth McCrossan has made the very difficult decision to part with her great coloured mare, Sioux Indian. Most of our members know this talented and colourful character who has been Ruth’s partner for several years now. She’s a cracking riding club horse and would also suit a competent and competitive teenager who wants to do a bit of everything.
See full details on Ruth’s ad on Done Deal.
Having acknowledged that Fenway’s good GP saddle is perfectly adequate for her level of dressage riding, Libby is selling her Passier Grand Gilbert dressage saddle as well as a GFS Fieldhouse general purpose saddle. Both are used but in excellent condition.
The Passier saddle is a 17″ medium fit and can be fully adjusted by master saddler (Old Mill are Passier’s agent in Ireland) while the GFS is a 17.5″ medium-wide.
Contact Libby on 086 830 1392 for full details and more photos. Both saddles can be seen and tried at the Beach Show on Sunday or at the Riding Clubs Festival in Stradbally.
Sharon has been in touch to say she has silks in our club colours in stock, if anyone going to the National Hunter Trials wants to look super smart in a new outfit. She also has medical card holders, number bibs and level 3 body protectors to suit all price ranges. Silks can be made up to suit any club colours!
Remember that Jenny also holds a certain amount of club gear and you can order it from her at any time. If she doesn’t have the item in stock, she’ll add it to the next order.
Seirendipity Equine, producers of bespoke pieces of jewellry handcrafted from horse hair, are offering a special discount of 20% for all riding club members. Prices start at €85 for these individually crafted pieces, hand made in Donegal using the finest silver or 9ct gold.

Mai (Somhairle Red Tiger) is looking for a longterm loan home. She’s a 10 year-old liver chestnut Anglo-Arab mare, about 15.1hh. She enjoyed an active riding club season in 2011 when Libby competed her with great success in show jumping, cross country and showing. Her dressage is not up to the same level as her jumping but, with a little time and patience, she has the paces and ability to do very well at it and would be a lot of fun to event.
Mai is an absolute pleasure to handle on the ground but she is not a novice ride. She would ideally suit a competent and ambitious teenager or small adult who wants to get out and compete with a good horse. She’s available on longterm loan to somebody who will make plenty of use of her. She already has a very good home where she can relax and do leisurely hacking but Mai would like to be doing a lot more than that!
If you’re interested in her or know somebody that may enjoy her, contact Libby’s sister Kate on 087 418 9954. (Libby can also fill you in more.)

Bruce, the bay thoroughbred that Rachel brought to the first few legs of the North West League in February, injured a tendon several weeks ago and his racing career is ended. He’d love to continue life as a pleasure horse and, with several months on the easy list, should be well capable of carrying on work at a less competitive level. Now 4 years old, he’s an exceptionally good natured horse who can be hacked out safely from the field in any conditions and is a pleasure to handle in the stable. Bruce is available free to a good home. Contact Rachel on 086 161 7087 for further information.

A colleague of Anne Chambers is selling a 91 Ford Cargo horse lorry. It sleeps 4 and is stalled for 3 horses, has full living, TV, an internal locker and an external one for 5 saddles. The lorry has full service history. If you’re interested contact Moya Carlin 086 316 8165.
Doolin Star, who has been seen on many occasions with both Libby and Rachel at riding club, is reluctantly for sale. Doolin is a 5 year old, 13.2hh (approx) connemara gelding by ‘Oisin’ (see full breeding on All Breed Pedigree). He has had one season’s hunting with the Donegal Harriers and has done everything from pony club rallies through dressage, show jumping, mounted games and polocrosse to pony racing and TREC.
Doolin is very good natured and willing, though he does occasionally see bogey men that the rider can’t see. He has never bucked, bitten, kicked etc. He’s good in traffic, to load, travel, clip, shoe and to handle. His jumping shows good promise, though he needs more experience with spooky fillers etc.
He would make a brilliant second pony for any child wanting to get out and have fun. Contact Rachel on 086 161 7087.
