August has brought us another new member, Shauna Gailey. Shauna lives in England but spends as much time as she can at her house in Anney, north of Rathmullan, where she’s a neighbour of Francis and Maura. Shauna is originally from Carrigans and some members will recognise her by her maiden name, Shauna McFarlane. SheContinue reading “Another new face for the club”

Back on board
Here’s the evidence: Sharon on Ozzie, getting fit together (while Pippa snoozes unphotographed in the background). Sharon started riding again a week ago and hopes to make her riding club reappearance in time for our flatwork lessons later in August.
From pony club to pony racing to polocrosse, it’s a busy time of year
Any of our members whose sole allegiance is to the riding club probably wonders why attendance at events at this time of year can sometimes be low. The majority of our members have their fingers in more than one club pie and know all about the demands placed on them in the peak of summer.Continue reading “From pony club to pony racing to polocrosse, it’s a busy time of year”
Baby daughter for Sharon and John
Congratulations to Sharon and John on the birth of their daughter this morning. Everybody is doing fine. More news in due course!
New member, Erica – the photographic evidence
Not many of our members manage to get out and compete for the club before turning up at some of our non-competitive activities. And when that competition is half the country away in Galway, there’s not much chance of us seeing the new recruit in the flesh. So for everybody who hasn’t yet met EricaContinue reading “New member, Erica – the photographic evidence”
The big bump
Our over-sized club treasurer Sharon Lee was spotted today on cheque book duty with assistant treasurer, Rachel. The pair were taking measures to ensure that things run smoothly during Sharon’s imminent maternity leave. The Bump is VERY big and Sharon is due any day now. So far things have been going well and we wishContinue reading “The big bump”
Aodhan back in the fold
After a six month absence while he concentrated on his law studies, Aodhan McMenamin is back on the club radar and hopes to be active over the summer months with his horse Kaiser. A Letterkenny man, Aodhan is probably best-known as the club’s high jump champion. He nailed the title in the small hours ofContinue reading “Aodhan back in the fold”
Another new member
We’re happy to welcome Erica Glynn to the club. Erica lives in Ramelton and keeps her horse in Rathmullan. She rides at Intermediate level and already has a couple of stages of BHS exams under her belt. She’s a professional dog groomer so Harvey, Belle, Beanie and the rest of the canine crew can lookContinue reading “Another new member”
Club welcomes another new 2-legged member
Michelle O’Rourke from Bomany, Letterkenny, has joined the club. She’s a veteran of the East Donegal Pony Club where she was a member during Seamus McCaffrey’s time as District Commissioner. She joins us at Advanced Primary level and we look forward to seeing her out with her young horse over the summer.
Success at Greenacres
Club member Ava Ward has been in touch to reassure us that she’s still alive and kicking. Although we haven’t spotted her at any riding club events this year, she’s keeping her head above water in the equine world and enjoyed a successful outing at Greenacres last weekend. With her mare, Gallanta, she took theContinue reading “Success at Greenacres”
