Membership of the club is at present so healthy that we’ve almost let a new face slip through the cracks. Rachel McKimmon joined us in late January and some of you may have met her at the first leg of the league when she was part of Martina’s gang.
Rachel is a highly experienced young horsewoman from the Strabane area. She runs a very well regarded yard where she breaks and brings on young horses. Martina’s Smuggler is one of her long-term residents. Tanya’s Jack was a short-term resident when he visited for breaking two years ago. Rachel joins us at Advanced Open level and we hope to see her out as soon as her intended riding club mount recovers from injury.
Tommy McGettigan joined us in the past couple of weeks and has already shown his competitive intentions by winning at the North West League last Sunday. Tommy’s background is on the racing circuit but we hope he gets plenty of enjoyment from our slightly more sedate variety of equestrian activity. He’s already more than familiar with the club since his Ballyare yard is home to Nadine and Damien’s mares as well as to Erica’s Britney.
